» Walking on Fire

Where have all the heroes gone who used to help us carry on

Did they decide to abdicate

And leave us here to meet our fate?

Where are all the knights of old who kept us safe inside the fold

Protecting us from evil men

Are they coming back again?

Waiting in the shadows for some savior to return

I can hear the fiddlers play as Rome begins to burn

We’re walking on fire

As far as the eye can see

We’re walking on fire

Won’t somebody come to rescue me?

And if you ask me who’s to blame

I didn’t catch their name

I’m far too busy running from the flames

Where are all the men of steel who taught us how to keep it real?

Sages of unclouded brow,

Boy we could really use them now

Where are all the supermen who graced our skyline now and then?

They used to catch us when we fell

But now we’re going straight to hell

Waiting for the caped crusader streaking cross the sky

Hoping I can see him only once before I die

We’re walking on fire

It’s breaking out everywhere

We’re walking on fire

But nobody seems to even care

And if you asked me to explain

I couldn’t stand the shame

I only know I called and no one came

We’re walking on fire

But nobody wants to know

We’re walking on fire

I wish there was someplace else to go

And if you ask me to explain

Why I scan the skies the skies in vain

I only hope they’re coming back to save us once again
